![]() A larger truth. Our service has never been limited by the walls of our building or the borders of our property. Since Canlis exists within the context of a larger Seattle community, we have always reached out into our city to serve. Whether to the arts and sciences or the poor and homeless, our community mission is to move people beyond current limits and towards a vision far greater than the status quo. | |

Throughout Seattle, you will see the hallmarks of a half-century of community involvement we call “Canlis Cares.” At one hospital on Capitol Hill there is the Canlis Cancer Care Unit. At another hospital near Northgate, a mock-up of our dining room helps patients at a Stroke Rehabilitation Center. In the International District there is a refurbishment of the dining room at the Union Gospel Mission’s Women and Family Shelter, and downtown a youth mentoring program at the YMCA. At Christmas, our staff can be found raising money for Heifer International to send farm animals to third world countries or joining together at city shelters to play Santa and distribute gifts they had brought. Our chefs raise funds all year long for causes ranging from Share Our Strength to supporting the Pike Place Market Foundation and all of us are involved at Fare Start where they train the homeless to be foodservice workers. In one night, December 31st, 1999, at $10,000 per couple, Canlis raised half a million dollars for these organizations. Seattle is our community, and we are everywhere involved in making it a better place to live. To request adonation, please click here |
